Cold Weather Playtime

November 10, 2015 By allseasonsccc

Now that the snow has made it to Minnesota once again, play-time can see a big change with the weather.  To keep the dogs safe from the cold and ice, we switch over from half a dozen longer outdoor sessions to quick outings before using our indoor gymnasium.  Our staff is trained to spot signs of discomfort with the cold like nibbling the snow between their paw pads and holding paws up off the ground, so we can get the dogs back inside.  For the dogs that don’t know their own limits, we have guidelines we follow based on the temperatures and wind chills.  Plus we have to endure the sometimes unforgiving Minnesota weather right along with them, so if we are uncomfortable, chances are it time to seek some warmth.  People often bring dog sweaters and coats but they are not necessary.  We monitor the conditions and each dogs reaction to them closely so we can accommodate the differences in each dogs tolerance. Unless you want them to wear the clothing for the duration of the day, it doesn’t make sense to get them dressed and undressed a dozen times a day when they venture outside. As our name suggests we keep the fun going through all the seasons.
